DARDEA and Mangaung Metro Embarks on a Cleaning Campaign

The Mangaung Metro Cleaning Campaign took place behind Lemo Mall in Bloemfontein, marking a meaningful collaborative effort aimed at enhancing local environmental conditions. This initiative was organized by the Free State Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs (DARDEA) in partnership with the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Nedbank, Old Mutual, and Motheo TVET College.

Spearheaded by MEC Elzabe Rockman, the campaign focuses on addressing urgent environmental compliance and local waste management challenges in the region. The effort gained high-level support from Mangaung Executive Mayor Cllr. Gregory Nthatisi, who, in his welcoming remarks, praised MEC Rockman for fostering a supportive environment for the community.

“We will ensure that we back the department as they provide essential services. Many people come to the city seeking better opportunities, and we have to manage our limited resources wisely,” said the Mayor.

In her speech, MEC Rockman emphasized that this campaign is part of an integrated approach with Mangaung aimed at keeping the area clean.

“This aligns with our Love Your Street program, and we must enhance public education about caring for our environment,” she concluded.
